I’m so happy you’re here!
I'm Jody, and I live in Beacon, New York. Originally from Arlington, Virginia, I've spent most of my adult life pounding the pavement of New York City. While I will always heart NYC (especially Brooklyn), I am thrilled to call the beautiful Hudson Valley home.
I have always enjoyed making things with my hands. As a child, I spent my allowance at MJ Designs (which sadly went out of business, but think Michael's), sourcing materials for my puff ball creatures with googly eyes, felted hair barrettes, and pipe cleaner projects, not to mention crayons and pastels and paints. My crafting subsided once I fell in head-over-heels in love with theater and devoted my life to becoming an actor/singer - that is, until I discovered candle-making.
It began a few years ago,
when our beloved Christmas tree's fallen needles were still so fragrant, that I was reluctant to throw them away. My clever husband randomly suggested that I try to make a candle out of them, and voila: a new passion was born! (Thanks, Ben.) While I now source fragrance oils instead of making my own (that crock-pot project was an adventure unto itself!), I fell in love with the process of candle-making and continue to refine my techniques in order to produce the best possible product.
When not tinkering in my candle factory (i.e. my kitchen), I work as an actor, narrator, and yoga instructor. My husband Ben and I love to travel and and eat aaaall the delicious foods, though our explorations have shifted since the arrival of our daughter, Camille, in 2022! We remain obsessed with our sweet dog, Gus, and try to get outside with both “kids” as much as possible. Afterwards, I love to cozy down with a good book, a glass of wine, and a lit candle (or five).
If you’re looking for your own candle (or five), check out my current offerings!
